There are no laws banning online bloggers in copying and pasting links to their blogs. But we should consider that there is this “Copyright Law” in our system. What we don’t know is that this may be applied to our system in blogging.

To prevent further trouble, here are a few tips in using links:

1)      Do not copy and paste a link that will make you appear as the main content owner. Make sure you quote the link in a correct manner.

2)      There is what we call deep linking- make sure you are clear that the deep link you used is not based on your content but rather your content is based on that link.

3)      If possible, ask permission to the web host when you want to link your own website to theirs

4)      Make sure that your work will be clearly distinguished with other’s work. That is also avoiding plagiarism.

We know that it is a common practice for bloggers to use links but what we don’t know is that maybe laws are now being passed to cover policies in online blogging and that could include using online links. Start a healthy practice now in blogging to avoid future trouble. Be a good blogger!

Elements of an Effective Blog

If you want to be successful in blogging you must strive to make an effective blog. Few things bloggers should consider if they want to stay longer in blogging are:

1)    You must have vision and passion. Vision is what guides you through the whole process. If you are not set with your blogging goals then tendency is you will just be caught in the web of internet. Passion is what drives you. Blogging is not as easy as everyone makes it sounds. If you are not passionate about it then you will not survive. There are so many people out there writing the same topics that you have, offering the same things that you offer. If you are not driven enough to sustain in the blogging industry, others will overshadow you. And you will not exist. In the eyes of the readers, your blog does not exist. And that is the last thing you would want to happen.

2)    Substance of content. What is in your blog which makes people read more? If stating the facts and statistics is what you are only after in your blog, then there are plenty of other sites people can get that from. But if your blog goes beyond the facts and numbers, readers will keep coming back and new readers will come in.

3)    Marketing. Bloggers need readers. Blogging has tools which can help you market it well. A well marketed blog is a well read blog. If you want to make money out of blogging then you will need a successful marketing strategy for it.

Plagiarism today is not only found in making projects for schools, offices, companies, etc. It can also be done in online blogs! Well, you should be careful because it is very out of control now in the internet.

You may not know but someone might have already been stealing away your work. For others, it may feel good because that means that they are already famous and people liked their work. But what they don’t realize is that these online plagiarizers are also getting cash and praises from readers by using other people’s content.

How do you deal with it? Well, there is this blogging tool I have stumbled upon. It’s called Copyscape. It’s a free search-like service engine that you can find in the internet. It surveys thoroughly a page on your website and tells you what parts other writers might have copied.

That perhaps is the most convenient tool you can use if you want to trace online plagiarizers that have copied your entire work or parts of it.

You can also use copyright notice on your article to create a public record under your name. That way, you may file copyright infringement lawsuit against these online plagiarizers. Just be sure that you have enough evidence to prove that a copying on your work has been done. This is a strict legal action and surely, your offending party will learn their lesson.

We cannot blame it if people tend to always associate blogging with making money. This is true and practically this is what most people are aiming for when they are blogging.

There are however more to blogging than just the numbers. Successful blogging is not just about having the most traffic or getting more ad campaigns. If that is the only goal you have when you entered blogging, then, your success will only be temporary.

What is essential in blogging is that you are able to relay your thoughts in a way that it may affect the lives of those who read it. Establishing connection with your reader and viewer is what will make you last in blogging. That connection is shown through their comments and feedbacks on a certain blog or on your entire blog site.

Sales or traffic is actually just secondary to having a successful blog. It will come to you as more and more people are connected to you. It is easy to get people read your blog for the first time but letting them read more is not just a walk in the park. If your blog does not contain substantial information which may be of help to some, or does not state any facts which readers can learn from, then you are just wasting your time. Readers trust is earned. Your blog may be read by many but it will not serve its purpose. It will just be read but not necessarily be understood.

Financial freedom with blogs

Not once in my life have I encountered people hesitating when I tell them that I use my blogs to earn money. Some would ask me if it is possible and some would ask if it is event legal.

Well folks, tell you what, with years working in the face-to-face world, it is only with my blogs have I experienced a real financial freedom.

Most jobs I know tend to stress people too much they barely have fun doing it. But with blogs, I write about the things that interest me without stressing me at all. With my blogs I also need not please or satisfy any boss with my articles, so aside from financial freedom I am actually getting a sense of intellectual freedom, too. As for the money side, money from my blogs can actually get huge depending on the effort and time I spend with it.

Now ain’t that the real financial freedom?
